A major scare gripped Madhubani railway station in Bihar early Thursday morning, when a fire broke out in a stationary coach of the Udhna Express (Train No. 22563). The train was parked on platform number 3 at the time of the incident. Flames quickly engulfed coach number 154788, causing panic among people at the station as the interior seats were completely reduced to ashes. Fortunately, the train was empty, and no injuries were reported.
Railway security personnel, senior officials, and the fire brigade rushed to the spot immediately upon receiving the alert. The firefighters demonstrated remarkable promptness, managing to contain the blaze within a single coach and preventing it from spreading to the rest of the train. Officials noted that any further delay could have resulted in a much larger conflagration involving multiple carriages. The train typically remains parked at Madhubani as an empty rake before heading back to Jaynagar for its scheduled departure.
Samastipur Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Jyoti Prakash Mishra arrived at the station to take stock of the situation. He personally inspected the charred bogie and consulted with on-site officials to understand the sequence of events. While the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, the DRM confirmed that a high-level investigation has been initiated to determine the point of origin and any potential safety lapses.
